Cyrrup offers fully indigenous fuel theft detection solution for fleets

Fuel theft has been one of the biggest issues faced by truckers in India. According to reports, around 8% of the total diesel filled in trucks is stolen during transit. Some statistics indicate that nearly 2 million tons of diesel was stolen in 2017 – a staggering and alarming figure. What is the industry doing to tackle this burning issue? Enter Cyrrup Solutions – a home-grown start-up with 100% indigenously designed, developed and produced solution for diesel theft detection.
Recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, Cyrrup is a Hyderabad-based start-up established in 2017 and started offering solutions from the end of 2019.

Talking exclusively to MOTORINDIA, Gaurav Kumar, Director, Cyrrup Solutions Pvt. Ltd., says, “We offer solutions in the logistics domain and our core product is a diesel theft detection solution called ‘Diesel Eye’ – a completely made in India product wherein the sensor, hardware, firmware, software are all built inhouse. The accuracy of our product has been proven to be far better than our competitors’ products, most of them imported from China.”

He continues, “In addition to the fact that our product is 100% made in India, one of our biggest advantages is the aftersales service guarantee we promise. This is currently a big problem in the market; since most of the devices come from China customers do not get any service support at all. In our case, since everything is under our control, we are able to make a big difference with reliable service support which many of our customers have acknowledged. Another advantage we offer is the co-creation of the product. Almost 80% of the features in our product are a result of direct request from customers. We believe, if we have passion and combine it with the right technology, we can serve the logistics and fleet fraternity; this is something that excites me a lot.”

Diesel Eye works towards minimizing fuel costs by detecting fuel theft. It sends daily reports containing fuel inlet/outlet and theft information, along with GPS location and time stamp to the vehicle owners via android app and web dashboard, thereby ensuring the fuel is continuously monitored, leaving no possibility of pilferage.

Indicating Cyrrup’s target customer base, Gaurav shares, “We spoke to 500+ truck owners before developing our Diesel Eye solution so we are confident of having understood what our customers want. Our core target segment is the heavy commercial vehicle space that includes trucks, buses, tankers and other applications and also earthmoving equipment. We would like to go aggressive and step up our sales in the coming quarter. Our target is to reach 2,000 customers – these could be fleet owners, ERP providers, software / GPS providers, bus body builders – by the end of the current financial year.”
Cyrrup launched Diesel Eye at the Prawaas 3.0 exhibition held at Hyderabad in August this year and received excellent response for the product. “We completed our pilot earlier this year and launched the product at Prawaas 3.0. At the show, we were able to create a buzz about what we are doing and how we are different from our competitors. While we will scale up Diesel Eye and improve it further by adding new features, we are also in constant talk with our customers to understand their other pain points and are developing solutions to address their problems”, shares the director.

Apart from Diesel Eye, Cyrrup currently offers smart fleet management solutions for fleet optimization and a driving behavior monitoring solution called ‘Vehicle BlackBox’ to help enhance fleet safety, with more purposeful solutions in the pipeline.
