CNH India gets Letter of Allotment for Greenfield Plant in UP

CNH India is taking a decisive step in strengthening its presence in the country, with plans to set up a new manufacturing facility in UP. The move gained momentum as Mr. Narinder Mittal, President and Managing Director, CNH India, received the Letter of Allotment and Eligibility Certificate from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath—marking the formal beginning of the project.

The development is more than just a capacity addition. It reflects a larger shift in how CNH views India within its global strategy. What was once seen primarily as a market is now emerging as a critical hub for design, development, manufacturing and exports.

This shift was clearly outlined a few months ago when CNH CEO Mr. Gerrit Marx shared his vision of establishing a new agriculture plant in India. At the company’s Greater Noida facility, during a media roundtable, he emphasised that India’s scale, supplier ecosystem and engineering capabilities make it central to CNH’s future growth plans.

In line with this thinking, CNH reorganised its India operations in 2024, moving them out of the APAC structure and placing them directly under the global CEO. The decision underlined the growing strategic importance of the Indian market.

The upcoming plant is expected to be developed in phases, with plans to significantly expand tractor manufacturing capacity over time. The company, as per initial plans, is reportedly looking at a land parcel of around 60 acres, with a long-term goal of more than doubling its current capacity.
