Carbon showcases Indian capabilities to global audience

While global brands dominated the proceedings at Busworld, India had three representatives on the exhibitor side, one of which was Carbon. The market leader in next generation entertainment and security systems for the bus and coach industry in India, Carbon, a wholly-owned brand of Hi Tech Computers, showcased various products from its portfolio. The company’s primary aim of participating in Busworld was to establish its technology strengths and capabilities it dominate the segment in the Indian market and add global OEM names to its customer list.

Said Mr. Kumar. H, Marketing Director, Carbon: “This is our first time at Busworld Kortrijk, and the visitors showed a lot of interest in our products. We are targeting direct supplies to the OEMs in Europe and will be present at Busworld Turkey next year to cover the Middle East market. Our products are already present in markets like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Africa through our customers.”

Carbon displayed a range of interesting products at the show, including LCD monitors, amplifiers, speakers, vehicle cameras and DC/DC convertors. “We have displayed multiple products from our range here at Busworld, including a specially-designed DVD player for buses, wireless camera system, an amplifier specially developed for BharatBenz buses, and a wi-fi based video on demand system which includes 4G & 3G. We focus on innovation and address challenges by delivering solutions for our customers. For instance, we use special converters in our camera systems and we are only the third company in the world to manufacture a 24 V DVD player for buses”, explained Mr. Sunil Nalavade, General Manager, Carbon.

Hi Tech Computers was established in 1993 at Hubli, Karnataka, while the Carbon brand was formed in 2002 with the aim of offering the best-in-class products through constant innovation and deliver superior return on investment for customers through enhanced end-user satisfaction. Carbon supplies to almost all leading bus manufacturers in India, namely, Volvo, Scania, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, MAN and BharatBenz. It also works with leading bus body builders like Sutlej, Veera and S.M. Kanappa and caters to the requirements of some of the large fleet operators in the country such as VRL Travels.

The company makes most of its products at its facility in Hubli, while it has contract manufacturing partners in China for some products, primarily cost benefit. Carbon plans to have greater focus on the aftermarket segment in India and is firm on taking care of both sales and aftersales support on its own, without appointing any dealers or distributors.

Having established its stronghold in the domestic market, the home-grown company has set its sights high on expanding its presence in the global market.
