Bauma Conexpo India reflects construction industry boom

 

Bauma Conexpo India 2016, one of the most significant trade fairs in the country for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicle industry, held its fourth edition at the Huda Grounds, Gurugram in Haryana. Record business transactions, high-quality trade visitors and more participants than in 2014 marked the exhibition, which was held during December 12-15, 2016.

The exhibition, which also featured conferences, award ceremonies and live demonstrations, was jointly organised by the Messe München, Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), Builders’ Association of India, Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association, and the International Powered Access Federation.

Patil, President, Builders’ Association of India, Mr. Anand Sundaresan, President, Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association, and Mr. Igor Palka, Chief Executive Officer, bC Expo India Pvt. Ltd.

Said Mr. Avinash M. Patil, President, Builders’ Association of India: “With infrastructure investment set to go up, demand for construction equipment will rise further and the Indian construction equipment revenues are expected to breach the $23 billion (Rs. 1.5 lakh crore approximately) mark. Bauma Conexpo brings all the industry stakeholders together on one platform in India.”

“We are very pleased with the response that we have received on the first day of this event. This year we are expecting over 30,000 visitors coming to the trade fair. With the construction equipment industry slowly making advancements, Bauma Conexpo India will take several initiatives and work towards making India a market driver in the construction equipment industry,” said Mr. Igor Palka, Chief Executive Officer, bC Expo India Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture of Messe München and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

He also said on the sidelines of the conference that some exhibitors made some very good contacts and in some cases have also sold machines directly at the fair.

The key highlights of the first day of the trade fair included an International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) meeting and the Builders’ Association of India (BAI) Managing Committee meeting which was largely attended by its members.

The key highlights of the second and third days included a conference on ‘Infra Redux – New and Sustainable Horizons’, which was organized by the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (ICEMA), along with a conference on ‘Maximizing CE Sector Opportunities’.

Unprecedented turnout

The fair witnessed an unprecedented turnout in terms of the number of delegates, business visitors, clients and members of the media. More than 31,000 participants (5,000 more than in 2014) attended the biannual show to witness 647 exhibitors – of which 57 per cent were international companies from 30 different countries – occupying an area of 150,000 m². A ‘Demo Area’ was also set up in the trade fair where exhibitors held live demonstrations of the performance of their machinery and equipment.

Some of the prominent exhibitors which showcased their products and technologies at Bauma Conexpo India 2016 were ACE, Ajax Fiori, Ammann Apollo, ASTEC, BAUER, BKT, Case, Caterpillar, Columbia Machines, Haulotte, Herrenknecht, JCB, Kobelco, KYB Conmat, Liebherr, Linnhoff, Liugong, Macons, MAN, Marini, Masa, Potain, Putzmeister, Puzzolana, Sany, Schwing Stetter, Soilmec, Topwerk, Wacker Neuson, Volvo, Wirtgen and XCMG.

JCB India, the country’s leading earthmoving and construction equipment manufacturer, rolled out seven new products such as 220LC Xtra, 305LC, JCB 370LC excavators in the 22T, 30T, and 37T categories respectively, VM116 – an 11T soil compactor, 455ZX – a 5.5T wheeled loader, 30Plus-a 3T mini excavator and the all-new 2DX Backhoe Loader.

We have introduced a range of innovative machines many of which are in the larger equipment category. All of these revolutionary products are aimed at maximising productivity and profitability for our customers. These machines will be used in several sectors like roads and highways, mining, ports, irrigation projects, etc., and will contribute towards building of India’s infrastructure,” said Mr. Vipin Sondhi, Managing Director and CEO, JCB India Ltd.

MAN Trucks India Pvt. Ltd., a 100 per cent subsidiary of MAN Truck & Bus AG, Germany, also unveiled the CLA EVO range of heavy commercial vehicles. The CLA EVO 25.300 6×4 BS4 Construction Tipper and the CLA EVO 49.300 6X4 BS4 Tractor Head were unveiled on the inaugural day of the fair.

CASE Construction Equipment, a brand of CNH Industrial, presented its complete solutions for construction businesses by extending its range of dozers and foraying into the 12-13 T, 16-18 T and 20-21 T classes with three new models. It also upgraded the 1107EX soil vibratory compactor, further strengthening its position as the market leader in vibratory compactors for more than two decades. The product display highlights the CASE offering for urban construction, road building, infrastructure and agriculture applications.

Mr. Abhijit Gupta, Brand Leader, CASE Construction Equipment India, observed: “India is a key market for our company and we have made significant investments in order to provide the best products and support to our customers. On the heels of a successful entry in the motor grader segment, the dozers will mark our next step towards providing best technology in heavy line construction equipment in India. The new 1107EX Soil Compactor will further cement our leadership position in this segment keeping up with the evolving customer needs.”

Caterpillar India launched a couple of new products – Cat 320D2 GC Hydraulic Excavator and 950L Wheel Loader – in the construction equipment segment. The other Cat products on display were Cat 216B3 Skid Steer Loader, 424B Backhoe Loader, B20 Breaker and 120K2 Motor Grader.

Commenting on the introduction of new products in the Indian market, Vivekanand Vanmeeganathan, Country Head and Managing Director, Caterpillar India, stated: “Our strategy in India has always been to grow with the market and this decision about launching new products in the construction sector also follows the recent growth acceleration in these sectors. Going forward, we expect increasing demand for more efficient and technologically superior products, especially in the road construction segment with the Government setting ambitious per-day construction targets. We are fully prepared to meet this demand by bringing in the required products and technological solutions to the Indian market from our global product portfolio.”

LiuGong India unveiled its H series Wheel Loader 856 H, 936 E Excavator and B230 Bulldozer and displayed 836 Wheel Loader, 922D HD Excavator, 414 Motor Grader, CPCD 30 Fork Lift apart from giving live demonstration of 818 Wheel Loader with multiple attachments in demo area.

It may be recalled that the last event held in Greater Noida in December 2014 was attended by 635 companies from 25 countries and 26,018 specialist visitors.
