The Amalgamations Group, leading business conglomerate in the automotive sector, is reinforcing the activities it set out to accomplish at the last edition of Auto Expo in 2016. Mr. S. Narayanan, Whole-Time Director, Bimetal Bearings of the Amalgamations Group, shared: “Our focus remains on light-weighting, green approach and friction reduction; we want to be consistent in what we do. OEMs are talking to us about BS-VI and IC engines and not about EVs right now. At Bimetal Bearings, we are geared up for BS-VI and our parts are under testing with many OEMs.”
The Amalgamations Group feels while electric vehicles are a reality, the adoption of EVs in the Indian context has greater challenges than in any other developed country. The company is of the opinion that the fact that EVs in India have to cater to highly differentiated mobility modes – from mopeds to heavy trucks – makes it quite a challenging proposition. “We have to wait and watch how fast it will come”, added Mr. Narayanan.
