From a legacy of reliability and strong OEM partnerships to future-ready technologies, Elofic is gearing up to lead the next phase of mobility transformation

In an automotive landscape defined by disruption, regulatory shifts, and rapid technological advancement, longevity alone does not guarantee relevance. What sets enduring organisations apart is their ability to evolve without losing their core identity. As Elofic completes 75 years, it stands as a compelling example of this balance – combining legacy with forward momentum, and consistency with transformation.
Established in 1951, Elofic began its journey at a time when India’s automotive industry was still taking shape. With a clear focus on delivering reliable, high-quality filtration solutions, the company steadily built a foundation rooted in trust and engineering discipline – a foundation that continues to define its market position today.
Reflecting on this journey, MB Sahni, Managing Director, says, “Elofic’s journey began in 1951 with a clear and simple vision – to deliver reliable, high-quality filtration solutions to an emerging automotive industry in India. At a time when the country was still building its industrial backbone, we believed that consistent quality and trust would be our strongest differentiators. What started as a modest initiative gradually evolved into a brand that OEMs and customers could depend on.” His remarks underline the company’s early clarity of purpose and its long-term commitment to reliability.
Building on this perspective, KD Sahni, Joint Managing Director, adds, “Over the decades, while the scale of operations has expanded significantly, the founding philosophy has remained unchanged. Our focus has always been on long-term relationships, disciplined growth, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Completing 75 years is not just a milestone; it reflects the trust placed in us by generations of customers and partners.” The emphasis on continuity of values has clearly been central to Elofic’s sustained growth.

Strategic Evolution and Key Inflection Points
Elofic’s growth story is closely tied to its ability to anticipate and respond to industry shifts with strategic precision.
MB Sahni explains, “Elofic’s growth has been shaped by a series of strategic decisions – entering OEM partnerships early, expanding manufacturing capabilities, and continuously upgrading technology to meet evolving standards.” This early integration into OEM ecosystems allowed the company to build both credibility and capability at a formative stage.
KD Sahni highlights the liberalisation era as a defining phase, noting, “The liberalisation era was a major turning point, as it opened doors to global collaborations and significantly raised the bar for quality and competitiveness. From a technical standpoint, key inflection points included the adoption of advanced filtration technologies, development of application-specific products, and aligning with stricter emission norms.” He adds that each of these transitions required the company to strengthen its engineering capabilities and innovate continuously.
“Each phase required us to innovate and strengthen our engineering capabilities, which ultimately positioned Elofic as a trusted global supplier,” he says, reinforcing the organisation’s ability to convert change into opportunity.

Navigating Disruption with Stability and Agility
The automotive industry’s evolution – from regulatory transitions to electrification – has required companies to constantly recalibrate their strategies.
MB Sahni observes, “The automotive industry has witnessed multiple waves of disruption – from regulatory shifts to economic cycles. One of the biggest challenges has been staying relevant while maintaining stability.” He notes that Elofic has approached these challenges with a balanced mindset, ensuring adaptability without compromising its foundational strengths.
KD Sahni elaborates further, stating, “During periods such as the transition from the licence raj to liberalisation, and more recently the shift towards electrification, we focused on adaptability without losing sight of our core strengths. Technologically, every disruption – be it BS emission norms or the move towards EVs – required rapid product evolution.”
He adds, “We invested heavily in R&D and testing capabilities to ensure that our products remained aligned with new performance and environmental requirements. This proactive approach helped us stay ahead of the curve.” The emphasis on preparedness and investment in innovation has clearly enabled Elofic to remain competitive across cycles.

Core Philosophy – The Foundation of Longevity
While strategy and technology have played a vital role, Elofic’s long-term success is deeply rooted in its core values.
MB Sahni emphasises, “Our longevity is rooted in a few non-negotiables – quality, integrity, and customer commitment. We have never compromised on these principles, regardless of market pressures. From an operational standpoint, consistency in processes, adherence to quality standards, and a strong manufacturing discipline have been critical in sustaining these values on the ground.”
KD Sahni complements this view, noting, “Equally important has been our disciplined approach to growth and our emphasis on building long-term relationships rather than chasing short-term gains. From a market perspective, these values translate into strong brand trust. Customers associate Elofic with reliability, and that perception has been built consistently over decades through performance and transparency.”

This value-driven approach has enabled Elofic to build a reputation that extends beyond products to long-term credibility.
OEM Relationships – Building Long-Term Trust
A key pillar of Elofic’s success lies in its strong OEM partnerships, built over decades through consistency and alignment.
Karam Sahni, Group Head – OE & Institutional Sales, explains, “Our OEM relationships are built on mutual trust and a shared commitment to excellence. We have always positioned ourselves not just as suppliers, but as long-term partners. Consistency in quality, timely delivery, and the ability to meet evolving requirements have been key to sustaining these relationships over decades.”
He further adds, “From a strategic and market standpoint, building strong OEM relationships requires a deep understanding of customer expectations, responsiveness, and alignment with their long-term goals. We have consistently focused on strengthening engagement, ensuring reliability, and reinforcing Elofic’s position as a dependable partner across platforms.” This partnership-led approach has strengthened the company’s presence across OEM ecosystems.
Aftermarket – Strengthening a Core Business Pillar
Elofic’s aftermarket business has evolved into a strong and strategic growth driver, complementing its OEM operations.
KD Sahni notes, “The aftermarket has been a key pillar of our business. Our approach has been to build a strong distribution network, ensure product availability, and invest in brand visibility at the ground level. We have also focused on maintaining the same quality standards in the aftermarket as we do for OEMs, which has helped us build long-term credibility.”
Looking ahead, Kamlesh Koul, CEO, provides a future-facing perspective: “Going forward, the aftermarket will become more organised and brand-driven. Digital engagement, faster distribution, and stronger retailer relationships will play a significant role, and we are actively strengthening our presence in these areas.” This indicates a clear roadmap for scaling the aftermarket business in a more structured and technology-driven environment.

Technology and Innovation – Aligning with Future Mobility
As the industry transitions towards cleaner mobility solutions, filtration technology is undergoing rapid transformation.
Kamlesh Koul explains, “Filtration technology is evolving rapidly with the shift towards cleaner mobility. We are focusing on advanced materials, improved efficiency, and application-specific designs to cater to emerging requirements, including EVs and alternative fuel technologies.”
He adds, “At a strategic level, we are continuously investing in R&D infrastructure and exploring new product segments to stay aligned with future mobility trends.” This proactive investment strategy positions Elofic to remain relevant in a changing technological landscape.
Manufacturing Excellence – Driving Scale and Efficiency
Elofic’s manufacturing capabilities have been instrumental in enabling scale while maintaining high standards of quality.
Saheb Sahni, Head – Excellence Department, notes, “Our manufacturing strength lies in scale, process discipline, and a high degree of backward integration. This allows us to maintain strict quality control while ensuring cost efficiency.”
He further explains, “Integration between design, engineering, and production plays a critical role. By aligning these functions closely, we are able to optimise performance, reduce lead times, and maintain consistency across product lines.” This integrated operational approach continues to drive efficiency and reliability across the organisation.
The Road Ahead – Building for the Next 25 Years
As Elofic looks ahead, its strategic priorities are clearly defined – sustainable growth, technological advancement, and global expansion.

From a technology perspective, we are preparing for next-generation filtration requirements, including solutions for EVs, hybrid systems, and alternative fuels.”

Continuing the Legacy
As the company transitions into its next phase, the focus is on preserving its legacy while enabling future growth.
Kamlesh Koul reflects, “Leading a 75-year-old organisation is both a responsibility and a privilege. It represents the legacy of decades of hard work and trust. Our focus is on preserving these values while enabling the next generation to bring in fresh perspectives and ideas.”
At 75, Elofic’s story is not one of looking back, but of moving forward with clarity and confidence. The foundation is strong, the direction is clear, and the organisation is well-positioned to shape the next chapter of mobility.
