Volvo Trucks stays on top in Europe with 19% heavy truck share

Volvo Trucks retained its position as the market leader for heavy-duty trucks (16 tonnes and above) in Europe in 2025, securing a market share of 19.0% – up from 17.9% in 2024. This marks the second year in a row that the company has topped the European heavy truck segment.

The UK, France, Poland, Germany and Lithuania emerged as the largest markets for Volvo Trucks in terms of registrations during the year.

A major contributor to this performance has been the Volvo FH Aero, designed for long-haul operations. With enhanced aerodynamics and new technologies such as digital camera mirrors, the FH Aero delivers up to 7% better fuel efficiency compared to the regular Volvo FH it replaced. Nearly 33,000 FH Aero trucks were ordered across Europe in 2025.

“We are very proud to be market leader in Europe for the second consecutive year. Our goal is to be our customers’ best business partner, and being market leader is strong proof of the confidence our customers put in us. It makes us very proud, and I wish to extend a big thank you to our customers and our employees for this great achievement,” said Roger Alm, President, Volvo Trucks.

He added that the company’s product range delivers strong uptime, fuel efficiency and safety, noting that the FH Aero has become a preferred choice for long-distance transport. According to customer feedback, the model offers impressive performance and tangible fuel savings.

Top position in 30 countries

On a global scale, Volvo Trucks ranked as either the market leader or the second-largest brand in 30 countries in 2025, underlining its broad international footprint.

Towards fossil-free transport

Volvo Trucks continues to advance its transition towards fossil-free transport in line with its net-zero emissions target for 2040. The company’s three-path technology strategy focuses on battery electric, fuel cell electric and combustion engines running on renewable fuels such as green hydrogen, biogas, biodiesel and HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil).

“We will continue to innovate and introduce new trucks that contribute not only to our customers’ businesses, but also to the decarbonisation of our industry. By investing in multiple technologies, we can offer transport solutions suited to different customer needs and markets,” Alm said.
