At EXCON 2025, South Asia’s premier construction equipment exhibition, Tata Motors unveiled a diverse range of commercial vehicles and aggregates aimed at transforming the construction and mining landscape in India. Under its theme ‘Productivity Unleashed’, the company highlighted its commitment to sustainable, intelligent, and high-performance mobility solutions.

Leading the display was the Prima 3540.K AutoShift, Tata Motors’ most powerful tipper to date, engineered specifically for deep mining operations. Alongside it, the company showcased the all-electric Prima E.28K and India’s first factory-fitted 28-tonne CNG tipper, the Signa 2820.TK. Complementing these offerings was a wide range of aggregates, including industrial engines, axles, and gensets, designed to enhance operational efficiency and uptime across demanding applications.

“EXCON remains a pivotal platform for Tata Motors to showcase the engineering advancements and customer-focused solutions we are bringing to support India’s growing construction and mining landscape,” said Mr. Rajesh Kaul, Vice President & Business Head – Trucks, Tata Motors Ltd. “With the launch of the Prima 3540.K, we are proud to mark our entry into the deep-mining segment with a purpose-built solution engineered for the most demanding conditions. Furthering our commitment to sustainable mobility, the Prima E.28K demonstrates that zero-emission performance does not compromise on power or productivity.”
Driving Innovation Across Segments
Tata Motors’ Prima 3540.K AutoShift is powered by a Cummins 8.5-litre engine producing 375 horsepower and 1,800 Nm of torque, paired with a 12-speed AMT for seamless performance in deep mining applications. Mr. Kaul explained, “This platform is designed with higher power-to-weight ratios, inbuilt ADAS features, driver monitoring systems, and advanced telematics to provide live operational insights. It is a game-changing product built to improve productivity while reducing operator fatigue.”

In addition to mining, Tata Motors demonstrated its continued focus on application-specific solutions. The Signa 2820.TK CNG tipper targets urban and construction sites where emission control is critical, offering customers lower total cost of ownership and reliable performance. Mr. Kaul noted, “CNG tippers have been a highly anticipated addition. With close to 2,000 points in our channel infrastructure and on-site support in place, customers can operate with confidence knowing that maintenance, refueling, and assistance are readily available.”

The all-electric Prima E.28K tipper, designed for high-uptime operations, highlights Tata Motors’ commitment to decarbonising the commercial vehicle sector. Built for applications such as shallow mining, mineral movement, bulk cargo, and port operations, the vehicle provides zero-emission performance over daily operational ranges of up to 200 kilometres. “Our electric vehicle journey has been validated with customer feedback over the past few years. With this launch, we are confident that our EV solutions will see strong traction, particularly for applications that demand operational efficiency without compromising sustainability,” said Mr. Kaul.
Beyond vehicles, Tata Motors also highlighted its aggregates portfolio, which includes engines, gensets, axles, and components for construction and infrastructure applications. Mr. Vikram Agrawal, Head – Spares and Non-Vehicular Business, said, “Our aggregate offerings reflect Tata Motors’ focus on rugged, reliable, and customer-centric solutions. From the newly introduced 15 kVA and 35 kVA gensets to CEV BS V-compliant industrial engines, we aim to keep operations efficient, productive, and future-ready.”
Customer-Centric Support Drive Market Confidence
Tata Motors also displayed high-capacity tippers like the Signa 4832.TK, India’s first 48-tonne, five-axle tipper with a 32 m³ load body designed for coal transport, and the Prima 3532.TK, featuring the most voluminous load body in its segment at 26 m³, ideal for construction aggregates. The Prima E.55S battery-electric prime mover, capable of 350 km range with an integrated 3-speed e-axle, underscored the company’s efforts to decarbonise logistics.
A key differentiator for Tata Motors is its comprehensive customer support ecosystem. Under the Sampoorna Seva 2.0 initiative, commercial vehicles are backed by lifecycle management services designed to maximise uptime and efficiency. Fleet Edge, the company’s digital platform, provides real-time fleet management, enhanced uptime, and reduced total cost of ownership. “Our philosophy is that selling a product is not enough; it’s about delivering a complete solution. Before any vehicle goes into operation, we ensure on-site infrastructure, charging facilities, and fleet management solutions are fully in place. This gives our customers the confidence to operate seamlessly,” Mr. Kaul explained.
Looking ahead, Mr. Kaul expressed optimism about the construction vehicle market. “The industry has responded positively to the various measures and incentives introduced by the government. For the financial year 2025–26, we anticipate steady single-digit growth, and depending on market dynamics, this could even touch double digits. The positive environment reflects a shift towards higher productivity, sustainable operations, and smarter fleet solutions.”
With a portfolio that spans high-powered mining tippers, electric vehicles, CNG options, and a comprehensive range of aggregates, Tata Motors has once again reinforced its leadership in India’s commercial vehicle sector. The EXCON 2025 showcase underlines the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence, positioning it as a trusted partner for customers navigating the nation’s expanding infrastructure and construction landscape.
