Azura range introduced for ILMCV segment

As part of the launch, Tata Motors introduced the all-new Azura range, developed specifically for the ILMCV segment. The company said the range will be offered in configurations from 7 to 19 tonnes and will cater to applications such as e-commerce, FMCG distribution, white goods delivery, construction materials, agricultural produce and regional logistics.

The Azura trucks are powered by a new 3.6-litre diesel engine and have been positioned for medium-haul and intercity operations. Tata Motors indicated that the platform focuses on higher uptime, improved fuel efficiency and enhanced driver comfort, with design changes aimed at reducing fatigue during long operating hours.

Trucks upgraded to meet ECE R29 03 safety standards

Tata Motors also announced that its truck cabins across the Signa, Prima, Ultra and Azura ranges have been upgraded to comply with ECE R29 03 crash safety norms. These include protection against frontal impact, rollover and side impact.

According to the company, the trucks incorporate multiple active safety technologies such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and collision mitigation systems. These features are complemented by real-time driving behaviour monitoring through Tata Motors’ Fleet Edge connected vehicle platform. With these upgrades, the company said it has aligned its domestic truck offerings with internationally recognised safety standards.

Payload, fuel efficiency and fleet digitalisation

The updated portfolio also includes changes aimed at improving fleet economics. Tata Motors stated that payload capacity has been increased by up to 1.8 tonnes in select models. Drivetrain updates, including the use of a 6.7-litre Cummins diesel engine on specific platforms, are claimed to deliver up to 7 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency.

In addition, the company introduced Fleet Edge Priority, an enhanced version of its digital fleet management solution. The service provides real-time vehicle health data, predictive analytics and trip optimisation inputs, aimed at improving vehicle uptime and asset utilisation.

Electric truck range expanded under Tata Trucks.ev

Strengthening its electric mobility portfolio, Tata Motors unveiled a wider range of electric trucks under the Tata Trucks.ev brand, based on its new I-MOEV (Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle) architecture. The electric lineup spans 7 to 55 tonnes and targets applications including urban logistics, construction, ports and closed-loop operations.

The range includes the Ultra EV trucks in 7-, 9- and 12-tonne configurations, the Prima E.55S electric prime mover with a 470 kW power output and a 453 kWh battery, and the Prima E.28K electric tipper designed for mining and construction applications.

Tata Motors said the electric trucks have been developed with a high level of localisation, including indigenous design and manufacturing of key EV components and battery management systems. The company also highlighted the availability of customised financing options and the expansion of charging infrastructure to support wider adoption of electric trucking in India.
