SIAM HR & Skilling Conclave Focuses on Building Future-Ready Automotive Workforce

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) hosted the Automotive HR & Skilling Conclave 2025 in Chennai, themed “Accelerating Ahead: HR and Skilling for the Future of Mobility”. The event brought together government leaders, CHROs from major OEMs, HR experts, academic institutions, and technology partners to discuss the future of talent development in the rapidly evolving mobility ecosystem.

The conclave featured engaging sessions on aligning skills with business goals, progressive industrial relations, and fostering a healthy and inclusive workplace culture. Leaders deliberated on how HR strategies must evolve as the industry shifts toward software-defined mobility, electrification, digitalisation, and sustainability.

Speaking at the event, Mr. C.V. Ganesan, Minister for Labour Welfare & Skill Development, Government of Tamil Nadu, emphasised the industry’s responsibility, stating that“HR leaders of auto companies have greater responsibilities, as they support thousands of skilled professionals across the sector.”

Echoing the need for future-ready talent, Mr. K. Veera Raghava Rao, Secretary, Labour Welfare & Skill Development, Government of Tamil Nadu, said, “We must ensure that we have appropriately skilled people to support the evolving technological landscape.”

Dr. Natwar Kadel, Chairman, SIAM Human Capital Group & Vertical Head – People Strategy, Hyundai Motor India, highlighted the sector’s economic relevance noting that “Auto is one of the largest contributors to GDP and employment. HR leaders must continuously unlearn, relearn, and innovate.”

Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj, Co-Chairman, SIAM Skilling Group and Operating Head – Corporate Affairs, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, noted, “Investing in skills today is investing in a stronger industry tomorrow.”

Ms. Madhuri Mehta, Co-Chair, SIAM Human Capital Group and CHRO, Hero MotoCorp, added, “The auto industry needs to evolve to meet Gen-Z expectations.”

HR leaders from Ashok Leyland, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, Royal Enfield, Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Apollo Tyres, JSW MG Motor India, TVS Motor Company, and others shared insights on talent transformation, digital upskilling, and workforce readiness.

With a strong emphasis on collaboration between industry, academia, and government, SIAM reiterated that future mobility will be powered not just by technology, but by skilled, adaptable, and future-ready people.
