At EXCON 2025, NBC (National Engineering Industries Ltd) presented a wide array of its industrial solutions, emphasizing its growing focus on construction, mining, and other off-road applications. The company displayed its expertise across bearings, slewing rings, and condition monitoring systems, aiming to highlight both product breadth and reliability in demanding operations.
Speaking about NBC’s presence at the show, Mr. Rajesh Premchandran, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, said, “What you see here on display are all the products that we offer. Since we are a broad-based supplier, we serve all the construction and mining equipment across India.” He added that while the company currently holds a small market share in this segment, it plans to focus significantly on these industries as a natural progression from its heavy truck and rail business.
The company’s approach goes beyond merely showcasing products; it reflects NBC’s commitment to uptime, reliability, and safety. “Mining is a more demanding application, and construction is also quite challenging. Reliability takes precedence, and with projects moving faster, the need for uninterrupted operation has become critical,” Mr. Premchandran explained. He emphasized that understanding each application and tailoring solutions accordingly is central to NBC’s strategy.
Industrial Focus and Product Strategy
NBC is approaching construction and mining segments with a structured focus on research, design, and manufacturing. “The first step is ensuring proper design by going into the field and understanding the problems,” said Mr. Premchandran. “We are also exploring different types of lubrication and condition monitoring systems to ensure uptime can be maintained.”
The company has bolstered its manufacturing capabilities to meet the increasing demand and changing specifications in these industries. “We have set up a completely new industrial line focused on larger sizes,” he said. NBC has also partnered with ROTIS of Europe to offer slewing ring bearings used in large cranes and excavators, highlighting a specialization in challenging applications.
Catering to both OEMs and aftermarket clients is a strategic priority for NBC. “Once the OEMs accept a product and put it through rigorous testing, it becomes easier to serve the aftermarket as well,” Mr. Premchandran noted. He also mentioned that NBC is gradually expanding its product range to cover high-volume parts while addressing specialized segments like slewing rings.
NBC’s approach is not limited to manufacturing excellence; it includes predictive maintenance through advanced condition monitoring. “Condition monitoring is about understanding the types of failures that may occur and ensuring predictive maintenance. This prevents downtime and enhances operational efficiency,” Mr. Premchandran said. The company offers both probe-based and probe-free solutions for different industrial needs.
Looking ahead, NBC aims to leverage its legacy in automotive and rail sectors to gain market share in construction and mining. “We have a product, we know how to make these products, and we have been successful in automotive, aerospace and rail. Using our design capability and experience, we are confident we can deliver high-quality solutions for this market,” Mr. Premchandran said.
