Marelli Expands India Presence with New Bengaluru R&D Hub

Marelli has strengthened its engineering footprint in India with the opening of a new technical R&D centre in Bengaluru, aimed at accelerating development in advanced automotive technologies including software-defined vehicles, zonal architecture and EV propulsion systems. The new centre, located in Embassy Manyata Tech Park, was inaugurated on 5 November in the presence of Marelli’s India and global leadership teams.

The Bengaluru hub is designed to house 350 specialists and adds to Marelli’s existing R&D centre in the same tech park, as well as the engineering facility in Gurugram. With this addition, the company’s total R&D capacity in India rises to 1,200 engineers.

The centre features labs for optics, hardware and full automotive validation, along with collaborative training spaces to support innovation. The teams will work on end-to-end development of infotainment systems, digital clusters, displays, body control modules, engine management systems, and lighting solutions including advanced headlamps and rear lamps for the Indian market.

In addition, the centre will collaborate with Marelli’s global engineering units and OEM customers to co-develop emerging technologies for electric and hybrid powertrains, battery management systems, automated manual transmissions and next-generation lighting features.

Mr. Saju Mookken, Country Manager, Marelli India, said the new centre marks a major step in the company’s long-term innovation strategy. “This expansion reflects our strategic vision in India. It boosts our R&D capacity and accelerates development of solutions that matter to both local and global customers,” he said.

Marelli now operates 15 manufacturing facilities and three R&D centres across six cities in India, reinforcing the country’s role as a key innovation hub for global automotive programmes.
