MapmyIndia Mappls, India’s leading digital mapping, navigation and location-intelligence company, has expanded the capabilities of its flagship Mappls App by introducing multimodal public transport routing, allowing users to access metro, rail and bus route information directly within the app.
With this update, MapmyIndia Mappls strengthens its position as a comprehensive, multimodal mobility platform that brings together private and public transport navigation on a single, fully indigenous app. Serving more than 40 million users, the Mappls App now enables commuters to view public transport routes, stations, stops and interchange points, helping them plan more efficient, cost-effective and sustainable journeys.
The feature is currently live across key cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Indore, Patna, Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Jaipur, Kochi and Bhopal. It is available on iOS and the web platform, with an Android rollout planned shortly.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Rakesh Verma, Co-Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, said the new functionality is a direct response to user needs. He noted that the company aims to make the Mappls App more inclusive and accessible for everyday commuters, while steadily expanding public transport coverage to make mass transit easier to use for millions of Indians. He added that as a fully indigenous platform built in India for India, Mappls remains committed to supporting sustainable urban mobility by seamlessly integrating public transport into daily navigation.
The public transport routing feature complements Mappls’ existing offerings such as turn-by-turn navigation, real-time traffic updates, safety alerts and intelligent route planning. By making public transport information easier to discover and use, the company aims to encourage greater adoption of buses, metro and rail networks, contributing to reduced congestion, lower emissions and cleaner urban environments.
Staying aligned with national priorities has been central to MapmyIndia Mappls’ philosophy. Its maps and location technologies are developed in India and adhere to government guidelines on sensitive infrastructure and national boundaries. This approach has helped the company build strong relationships with government agencies, with public-sector business now contributing around 20 percent of its overall revenue.
As India enters the new year with a stronger focus on sustainability, MapmyIndia Mappls is encouraging citizens to plan daily travel using public transport options available on the Mappls App. The company will continue working with transport authorities and ecosystem partners to expand coverage and enrich data across cities, reinforcing its role as India’s most comprehensive and future-ready indigenous navigation platform.
