JOST acquires Hyva for $ 398 million to bolster global CV portfolio

JOST Werke SE, a global leader in safety-critical systems for commercial vehicles, has acquired Hyva, a renowned global technology leader in hydraulic solutions, in a deal valued at USD 398 million. This strategic move enhances JOST’s ability to serve India’s rapidly growing commercial vehicle market while reinforcing its position as a leading supplier for both On-Highway (transport) and Off-Highway (agriculture and construction) applications worldwide.

Hyva’s portfolio significantly enriches JOST’s comprehensive range of products across both On-Highway and Off-Highway sectors. The acquisition strengthens JOST’s regional presence, particularly in Asia and the Americas, while enabling entry into new market segments.

Pradeep Gorur Sheshagiri, Managing Director of JOST India, emphasised the local significance: “As India’s automotive component sector evolves into a pivotal growth driver, this acquisition aligns perfectly with the nation’s focus on infrastructure modernization and sustainable mobility. Hyva’s hydraulic expertise empowers us to accelerate ‘Make in India’ ambitions, deliver tailored solutions for rugged Indian operating conditions, and strengthen collaborations with domestic OEMs. This partnership reinforces our commitment to advancing India’s commercial vehicle ecosystem with globally benchmarked technologies.”

Jeffrey Zuidgeest, Regional Director – India, BU Components, Hyva, added: “The integration of JOST and Hyva’s product portfolios creates a significantly broader range of solutions, enabling us to better serve our customers and end-users. Leveraging our existing sales and after-sales network, we are well-positioned to drive further growth and enhance service excellence. This strategic synergy represents a win-win situation for all stakeholders.”

Hyva’s strong brand – recognised for its technological leadership and commanding 40 percent market share in hydraulic tipping cylinders – complements JOST’s existing offerings. Customers will benefit from a more comprehensive product portfolio, backed by global expertise and consistent quality, tailored to meet diverse regional requirements.

The combined strength of the two brands not only enhances global positioning but also boosts competitiveness and market leadership. By pooling R&D capabilities, JOST and Hyva aim to build an innovative platform focused on automated and digital solutions to meet emerging industry trends and evolving customer demands.

For over 70 years, JOST has been on a trajectory of consistent growth and innovation – transitioning from a small forge into a global enterprise with over 25 locations worldwide. Strategic acquisitions have been central to this journey, including ROCKINGER (2001), TRIDEC (2008), Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems (2014), Alö (2020), Crenlo do Brasil (2023), and LH Lift (2023).
