In a transformative leap for India’s freight mobility, BPW Trailer Systems India Pvt. Ltd. is redefining the logistics landscape with integrated trailer system solutions. From advanced axles to intelligent telematics, BPW is not merely manufacturing components – it is engineering a smarter, safer, and more sustainable future for transport.
Proud Contributor to India’s First Road Train
BPW Trailer Systems India is a proud partner in India’s first Road Train project, launched in Nagpur in February 2025. Spearheaded by Volvo Trucks and operated by Delhivery Ltd., with trailers manufactured by SATRAC, this initiative marks a new era in high-capacity freight transport.
Key features of the Road Train trailer include:
- A tractor towing two trailers, with a total combination length of up to 25.25 metres
- 50% more volume compared to a standard 40-ft semi-trailer
- Combined trailer volume capacity of up to 144 cubic metres
- Self-steering axle with air suspension for tighter turning radius and improved manoeuvrability
- Integrated EBS and ESP for advanced braking and stability

This pioneering project aligns with the Gati Shakti Master Plan, aimed at reducing logistics costs and enhancing cargo capacity across India’s expanding expressway network.
Engineering Innovations Driving Efficiency
BPW Self-Steered Axle
BPW’s self-steered axle enhances manoeuvrability and reduces tyre wear – extending tyre life by up to 50%. Ideal for long trailers negotiating tight turns, it can save up to 1,000 litres of fuel over 100,000 km while reducing stress on both the vehicle frame and road infrastructure.
BPW Landing Gear
Designed for quick trailer interchangeability, BPW landing gears are robust, flexible, and standardised for compatibility across multiple trailer types.
- Lightweight design supports payload efficiency
- Maintenance-free for up to three years, reducing downtime during trailer swaps

ERMAX Lighting Systems
Equipped with LED and hybrid tail-lights, these systems use modular cable sets to ensure visibility, safety, and compliance with international regulations.
Air Suspension Systems
Optimised for Indian operating conditions, these systems feature lift-axle configurations that help manage heavy loads and challenging terrains.
Advanced Braking and Safety Systems
Electronic Braking System (EBS)
BPW’s EBS digitally controls braking across all axles, delivering:
- Faster, more precise braking responses
- Reduced brake wear and enhanced safety
- Vital synchronised braking for extended vehicle lengths (up to 25.25 metres), preventing jack-knifing and uneven deceleration
Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
The ESP provides superior vehicle control and stability across varied road conditions – essential for high-speed, long-haul freight operations.
Telematics: Smart Connectivity for Smarter Logistics
BPW’s commitment to digitalisation is embodied in its advanced telematics solutions, developed in collaboration with idem telematics, a BPW Group company.
Features include:
- Real-Time Fleet Monitoring: Track trailer location, load status, and driver behaviour
- Predictive Maintenance Alerts: Minimise downtime through proactive servicing
- Cargo Condition Monitoring: Particularly valuable for cold-chain logistics
- Fleet Trailer Gateway: An award-winning modular telematics platform, recognised for innovation at the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show, enabling seamless fleet-wide data integration

These solutions provide fleet operators with real-time, actionable insights – boosting operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.
BPW’s Engineering Excellence, Backed by Global Vision
Combining German engineering expertise with an in-depth understanding of Indian operating realities, BPW Trailer Systems India is setting new benchmarks for quality, innovation, and performance in the commercial vehicle sector. As freight movement evolves, BPW remains committed to developing intelligent solutions that keep India’s logistics industry ahead of the curve.
