Dr. Nagarajan Govindan began his career in 1988 as a Teaching Research Fellow at the College of Engineering (CEG), Anna University, and later transitioned into research and development in the private sector before returning to academia in 1992. His tenure at Anna University, spanning over three decades, saw him holding various leadership roles, including Head of the Department of Mining Engineering, Director of the Centre for International Relations, and Executive Warden of International Hostels, among others.

An authority in automotive and energy sciences, Dr. Govindan has spearheaded pioneering research in Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition (RCCI) engines, low-carbon and zero-carbon fuels, flexi-fuel engines, and electric powertrains. His research—supported by national and international grants exceeding ₹98 lakh—has made significant contributions to advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Dr. Govindan has supervised 27 Ph.D. theses, 116 master’s theses, and authored 184 research publications, with 165 featured in prestigious international journals.
