Daimler Buses to Unveil eIntouro and NMC4 Battery at Busworld Europe 2025

At Busworld Europe 2025, to be held in Brussels from 4–9 October, Daimler Buses will present the world premiere of the all-electric Mercedes-Benz eIntouro, showcase the new NMC4 battery generation in the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro, and unveil a wide range of innovations in electromobility, safety and sustainability. The company will also highlight new offerings from the Omniplus service brand. With these presentations, Daimler Buses underscores its technological leadership in driving the transition to electromobility and in developing safe, sustainable solutions for scheduled-service buses and touring coaches worldwide.

A total of eight innovative buses from Mercedes-Benz and Setra will be displayed at Stand 503 in Hall 5, while three additional Mercedes-Benz vehicles – two available for test drives – will be showcased outdoors.

Mercedes-Benz eIntouro: Electric mobility for intercity and excursion routes

For the first time, Daimler Buses is presenting a fully electric intercity bus: the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro. Based on the proven diesel-powered Intouro, the eIntouro features a battery-electric drive with LFP batteries and a central motor. This model extends electric mobility to interurban services, school buses, shuttle operations and excursion routes, as well as shorter long-haul applications.

Two variants are available: the 12.18-metre eIntouro and the 13.09-metre eIntouro M. A first for European buses, the eIntouro enables software updates to be installed “over the air”, eliminating the need for workshop visits.

Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with NMC4 battery

A major step in Daimler Buses’ electrification journey is the introduction of the fourth-generation NMC4 battery. From 2026, it will be deployed across the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro, eCitaro G, eCitaro K and eCitaro fuel cell models.

The NMC4 battery offers higher energy density for longer ranges and an extended service life. Longevity is supported by battery-friendly charging at up to 150 kW, as well as compatibility with regular rapid charging at up to 300 kW. An eCitaro equipped with NMC4 batteries will be on display in Brussels.

Setra at Busworld Europe: Premium low-entry and touring coaches

Setra will showcase a cross-section of its intercity and touring coach portfolio:

  • MultiClass: Setra S 515 LE low-entry intercity bus
  • ComfortClass: Setra S 515 HD high-deck touring coach
  • TopClass: Exclusively equipped Setra S 516 HDH super-high-decker and the S 531 DT double-decker, designed for high passenger capacity and versatility.

Extending battery life: Refurbishment and replacement

To further improve lifecycle efficiency, Daimler Buses is introducing new services for high-voltage batteries. These include battery refurbishment and, from 2026, battery replacement options for the latest generation with longer ranges. Initially offered for the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro city bus, these services aim to maximise service life and cost-effectiveness – matching the durability standards long associated with diesel buses.

Omniplus Charge: A new brand for charging infrastructure services

Daimler Buses Solutions GmbH will now operate its infrastructure services under the Omniplus Charge brand. The company provides end-to-end support for transport operators transitioning to electromobility, from consulting and design to turnkey implementation of both electric and hydrogen infrastructure.

Together with expert partners, Daimler Buses can deliver the complete eMobility ecosystem: feasibility analysis, vehicle supply, charging infrastructure, construction work, electrical installations, battery storage, charging management systems and digital services – all from a single source.

Omniplus: Digital services for a connected fleet

Omniplus continues to expand its extensive European service network, with a growing number of specialist e-bus service centres. On the digital front, Omniplus is rolling out a new Digital Services Package, included with all new Daimler Buses deliveries – free for three years with diesel buses and six years with electric buses.

New services include:

  • Over-the-air updates: For the first time in the eIntouro, system and software updates are delivered remotely via mobile network, installed at scheduled times without a workshop visit.
  • Speed-related geofencing: Using Omniplus On monitor services, operators can define zones with restricted maximum speeds. Upon entering these zones, a vehicle’s limiter automatically activates, ensuring compliance.
  • Omniplus On Battery Monitoring: Tailored for electric buses, this tool provides insights into high-voltage battery condition and offers recommendations for optimal usage.
  • Warranty Status service: A free feature providing transparency on battery warranty coverage, helping prevent potential warranty violations.
