As India’s commercial mobility ecosystem transforms, Brakes India continues to lead the charge in developing braking systems that combine performance, reliability, and above all, safety. The company’s future-ready solutions are designed not just to meet current demands but to anticipate tomorrow’s challenges.

In response to the country’s expanding expressway network, Brakes India has positioned its Air Disc Brake (ADB) as a standard for high-speed, high-safety transport. The ADB features a single-piston monobloc design with a patented adjuster system and delivers a best-in-class torque-to-weight ratio. Tested across more than 20 million kilometers in real-world conditions, it ensures straight-line braking and fade resistance, with seamless compatibility for Electronic Braking Systems (EBS) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Variants include 175, 195, and 225 models, with a twin-piston version currently undergoing advanced testing for international markets.

Recognising the increasing air demands in modern commercial vehicles—driven by systems like air suspension, DEF dispensers, and lift axles—the company has introduced a redesigned Air Dryer Unit. This unit maintains clean and dry air supply even at pressures up to 10 bar. It achieves this through multi-stage filtration that removes dirt, oil, and water, while molecular sieve desiccants ensure high-efficiency moisture removal. With Viton seals capable of withstanding temperatures above 80°C and a redesigned governor piston for consistent cut-in and cut-out operation, the unit is engineered for high-pressure, high-load conditions.

Addressing the risks posed by higher axle loads and increased rollback potential, Brakes India has enhanced its Spring Brake Actuator (SBA). The upgraded actuator delivers up to 45 percent more parking load, offering improved hold on gradients and significantly enhancing emergency braking performance. This makes it especially beneficial for fleets operating in hilly terrains or congested urban inclines.

For next-generation commercial vehicles, Brakes India has introduced the Electro-Pneumatic Parking Brake (e-park), which replaces manual levers with intelligent, electronically controlled engagement. The system automatically activates the brake when parked and includes failsafe logic to prevent motion-time activation. A compact electronic switch interface and real-time diagnostics further enhance ease of use and safety compliance. The e-park system meets international safety norms and is ideal for HCVs, MCVs, and electric buses.

“Across every product, Brakes India blends deep engineering expertise with customer-centric innovation to address real-world challenges. Our solutions are not just components – they are enablers of safer, smarter mobility for India and beyond,” said K. Vasudevan, Group President & Head – Brakes Business, Brakes India.

From highways to hill slopes, and from manual trucks to smart buses, Brakes India is shaping the future of vehicle safety – one innovation at a time.
