India’s automotive industry continued its growth momentum in February 2026, with strong demand across passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles and tractors. Several leading manufacturers reported robust year-on-year increases, reflecting sustained consumer confidence, improving rural demand and steady expansion in exports.

Commercial Vehicles & Off-highway
In the commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motors Limited reported total domestic and international CV sales of 42,940 units in February 2026, marking a 32% year-on-year increase over 32,533 units in February 2025. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra’s trucks and buses business recorded sales of 3,018 units during the month, registering a 13% growth compared to the same period last year. The company noted that the CV industry continues to show strong momentum supported by government infrastructure investments, fleet modernisation and steady freight movement.
The farm equipment sector also recorded strong growth. Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business sold 32,153 tractors in the domestic market in February 2026, reflecting a robust 35% increase over 23,880 units sold a year earlier. Total tractor sales, including exports, reached 34,133 units, with exports rising 20% to 1,980 units. The company attributed the demand to strong rabi sowing, healthy reservoir levels and favourable agricultural conditions supporting rural cash flows.
Sonalika Tractors also reported its highest-ever February performance, selling 12,890 tractors in FY26. The company credited its strong performance to continued mechanisation in agriculture, improved rural infrastructure spending and increasing adoption of advanced agri-technologies. With its recently launched Sonalika Gold series, the company aims to further strengthen its position as a growth partner to farmers.
Passenger Vehicles
In the passenger vehicle segment, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. recorded total sales of 63,331 units in February 2026, registering a strong 35% growth over the 46,811 units sold in the same month last year. Domestic PV sales stood at 62,329 units, up 34%, while international business volumes rose sharply to 1,002 units, marking a 167% increase. Electric vehicle sales reached 8,385 units, reflecting a strong 57% year-on-year growth as EV adoption continues to gather pace.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor also reported a healthy performance, selling 34,034 units in February 2026 compared with 28,414 units in February 2025. The figure includes 30,737 units sold in the domestic market and 3,297 units exported. The company attributed the growth to sustained customer trust in Toyota’s quality and reliability as well as positive response to updates such as the recently introduced Tech Package for the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
Hyundai Motor India Limited posted total sales of 66,134 units in February 2026, representing a 12.6% year-on-year increase and the company’s highest-ever February sales since inception. Domestic sales stood at 52,407 units, up 9.8%, while exports grew strongly by 24.8% to 13,727 units. The company noted that the performance reflects continued momentum following its record January sales and its focus on expanding connected technology and global exports from India.
Kia India also achieved its highest-ever February sales since entering the Indian market, selling 27,610 units and recording a 10.3% year-on-year growth over the 25,026 units sold in February 2025. The company attributed the strong demand to its mass-premium positioning, with models such as the Seltos, Sonet and Clavis lineup driving customer interest through design, advanced safety technologies including ADAS, and connected features.
Renault India continued its recovery trend with wholesale volumes of 3,495 units in February 2026, marking a 31% year-on-year growth over the 2,676 units sold in February 2025. The refreshed Kiger and Triber models played a major role in this turnaround, with the Triber recording a particularly strong 57 % increase. Renault also noted that the announcement of the Duster’s return to India has strengthened brand sentiment and increased dealership footfalls.

In the two- and three-wheeler segment, TVS Motor Company reported monthly sales of 529,308 units in February 2026, representing a robust 31% growth compared to 403,976 units in the same month last year. Total two-wheeler sales rose 30% to 507,862 units, while domestic two-wheeler sales increased 32% to 365,471 units. Motorcycle sales grew 25% to 241,282 units and scooter sales jumped 34% to 219,895 units. Electric vehicle sales surged 60% to 38,386 units, while exports increased 27% to 158,268 units. Three-wheeler sales also recorded a strong 77% growth, reaching 21,446 units.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India reported total sales of 5,67,351 units in February 2026, including 5,13,190 units in domestic sales and 54,161 units in exports. The company recorded a 34% year-on-year growth, reflecting strong demand across both domestic and international markets.
Royal Enfield continued its positive momentum with sales of 1,00,905 motorcycles in February 2026, representing an 11% growth compared with 90,670 units sold in February 2025. The company highlighted sustained global demand and announced plans to expand production capacity at its Cheyyar facility in Tamil Nadu, which will increase annual capacity to 20 lakh units from the current 14.6 lakh units.
Overall, February 2026 reflected a strong and broad-based performance for India’s automotive sector, supported by growing consumer demand, rising EV adoption, expanding exports and improving rural sentiment.
