The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, has announced the readiness of its pioneering “ADAS Test City” at Takwe near Talegaon, Pune.

Spread over 20 acres, this facility is designed as a pseudo city replicating Indian road networks to test and validate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) under safe, controlled, and repeatable conditions. It is India’s first dedicated proving ground created exclusively for ADAS validation, marking a milestone in the country’s automotive testing and safety ecosystem.
The ADAS Test City will officially host THE ADAS SHOW on December 12, 2025, organized by Aayera, where government officials, industry experts, and global automotive leaders will witness live ADAS testing demonstrations. The event will also allow OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and technology companies to test their vehicles and solutions on India’s first ADAS-specific track.
Dr. Reji Mathai, Director, ARAI, said, “ADAS is key to enhancing road safety, and this Test City is a landmark initiative to rigorously validate technologies in real-world conditions. With the Ministry’s support, this infrastructure will empower manufacturers to deliver world-class safety solutions and boost indigenous ADAS development.”
The upcoming show will showcase live demonstrations of features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, driver monitoring, and traffic jam assist, among others.
With this initiative, ARAI aims to accelerate the adoption of advanced safety systems in India, foster innovation across startups and OEMs, and strengthen the nation’s position in future mobility technologies.
