Scania delivers 150th tipper, to BGR Mining of Hyderabad

Continuing the good run in the off-road truck segment, Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd. recently delivered the 150th Scania P 410 8×4 tipper to one of India’s largest mining contract companies, BGR Mining and Infra Private Ltd. (BGR) of Hyderabad. The delivery was done by Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T), Scania’s national sales, parts and service partner for the off-road truck segment.

Present on the occasion were Mr. Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director, Scania India, and Senior Vice President, Scania Group, Mr. Sivakumar V, Director – Sales, Scania India, Mr. Arvind K. Garg, Vice President & Head Construction and Mining Business, L&T, and Mr. B. Umapathi Reddy, Managing Director of BGR Mining & Infra Private Ltd. The key hand-over was followed by the flag-off of the tipper.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Grundströmer observed: “The delivery of the 150th Scania P 410 8×4 tipper to BGR Mining in less than six months is a testimony to Scania’s superior products and unmatched aftermarket service. The suspension, low kerb weight and fully automated gear system of the vehicle deliver refined driving experience even in the most challenging terrain”.

Over the past 20 years, BGR Mining has successfully extracted OB and coal of more than 4,000 million cubic metres. It aims to embark on new avenues of excavation and extraction of major minerals like lignite, iron ore and bauxite and to expand services to clientele across the steel, aluminium, sponge iron and cement industries. The company has maintained impressive standards of quality, and its consistent performance has made it a leader in the Indian mining industry. Today BGR Mining is one of the frontline firms engaged in OB removal contracts in the coal sector in the country.

The Scania P 410 8×4 tipper is equipped with Scania two-pedal Opticruise, a fully automated gear-changing system for best fuel efficiency and ease of driving. It is fitted with an 18.8 cubic meter, rock body. The tippers were put to test by BGR under a stringent condition. The vehicle performed really well with display of excellent uptime, reliability, element of ruggedness and clocking outstanding mileage. These set of USPs catalysed the first set of orders from BGR Mining. Scania tippers continued to impress the BGR team with their outstanding Total Operating Economy and effective performance in the most difficult and rugged terrain, which eventually led to further order placement in less than six months. With this order, BGR Mining will now have a band of 150 Scania P 410 8×4 tippers in its fleet.

Scania is establishing a complete service and dealership network in the country, starting from the southern and western regions, and will expand to other geographies. In addition to the dealer support, Scania also offers service vans to guarantee service support to customers within two hours of fault reporting. It also offers a complete driver training programme since drivers play a key role to achieve superior Total Operating Economy. The other additional service that Scania offers is the fleet management service (FMS).
