Dürr Assembly Products, an expert in end-of-line testing and setting for trucks & buses

With its wheel alignment stand ‘x-wheel truck d’, Dürr Assembly Products has set new standards in terms of measurement and adjustment of the wheel geometry for trucks and buses. The product enables non-contact, automated processes with x-3Dprofile measuring technology for commercial vehicles. x-wheel truck d is the only system in the market that measures relevant parameters such as toe and camber angle at the front and rear axles of commercial vehicles with a maximum axle load of 10 tons, ensuring high accuracy and unmatched repeatability. It does not require any adaptive measuring devices on tyres and frames.

In an exclusive interview to MOTORINDIA, Mr. Dr. Thomas Tentrup, Head of Product Line Management, EoL Commercial Vehicle Testing (CVT) and Head of Development, Balancing and Assembly Products, Dürr Assembly Products GmbH, spoke about the company’s innovative product display and its customer portfolio. He said: “We are market leaders in end-of-line business for passenger cars and found a special division two years ago for the truck and bus segment. This wheel aligner is a new product and has been successfully installed in the production plants of DAF Trucks (Netherlands), Leyland Trucks (Great Britain), Paccar Trucks (Denton & Chillicothe, US), Mercedes Benz (Brazil), Volvo Trucks (Sweden & Belgium), Renault Trucks (France), among others.”

Speaking about Dürr’s Indian expectations for its new product, Mr. Tentrup said: “I have been conducting workshops for our customers in the country, explaining the potential and efficiency of our new product. We have been getting positive response from leading truck manufacturers here.”

Dürr also displayed its multifunction roll-brake-ABS test stand ‘x-road truck’ which is designed for testing heavy commercial vehicles (maximum axle load 10 t) with up to four driven axles under road-like conditions. The x-road truck combines the increased requirements to the test environment due to modern vehicle technology with reduced complexity of the test stand and high-precision measuring technology. With growing awareness for safety, there is immense potential for such sophisticated testing equipment across the globe. In India, the company has bagged a fresh order from Tata Motors for its testing equipment, and expects orders from other major commercial vehicle manufacturers in the country.
