Hübner consolidating local presence to support customers

Hübner, a global leader in vehicle articulation systems, is excited about the huge potential the Indian bus and rail sectors have in store for its products. Public transportation in India certainly needs a complete overhaul, especially given the growing demand for ease, comfort and safety for the country’s large population to move from one place to another. Hübner feels the Indian market is moving in the right direction as far as public transport is concerned and is confident of playing an important role in its progress.

Sharing his views, Mr. Makarand Shahane, Director, Hübner Interface Systems India Pvt. Ltd., says: “In India, there are positive steps taken to improve the rail and road sector. While the rail side is already moving at a good speed, thanks to the metro projects, the last-mile connectivity through roads is getting better. Growing vehicle population congesting roads, there are chaotic scenes in almost all major cities. Public transportation, with its effective deployment of bus fleets, will help in decongesting the roads, and here we see a very vital contribution from Hübner’s side. We are in the right market with a right product at the right time.”

Considering a timeline of 2020 and beyond, Hübner expects demand for articulated vehicle solutions to grow by leaps and bounds. Foreseeing the potential, the German firm is already ready with a full-fledged production unit in Bangalore which it feels would greatly boost its customers’ confidence level.

“We have already achieved our first target which was to give a signal to our customers that we are available as a local supplier. More important than supplying locally, we provide local support. The success of any product in any market depends on how effectively we are able to service the customer after the sale, and this is where we are coming in very strong. We have a well-trained service team in place that undertakes new installations, monitors growth and supports existing products in the market”, adds Mr. Shahane.

As it continuously monitors the market demand for articulated vehicles, Hübner’s next targets are to create additional infrastructure, especially for product support, become more cost-effective by identifying local suppliers who can deliver consistent quality, and to expand its presence pan-India.
