YORK excels with new generation York Precision System

A producer and supplier of heavy duty trailer axles and suspensions components, York Transport Equipment (India) Pvt. Ltd. (YORK) displayed the new generation York Precision System (YPS) at Auto Expo 2016. “We have imported the technology from Temper Axle Products Corporation USA, and we are the sole partners for them in the rest of the world for their patented Temper-Loc spindle nuts and Doctor Preload tools. These products and their benefits have already been tested and acknowledged in Australia, Thailand, South Africa and Indonesia,” informs Alok Sharman, Group Chief Operating Officer, YORK, who is based at the head office in Singapore. The YPS axles guarantees a set preload of wheel ends, achieved with the patented Temper-Loc nuts and Doctor Preload tools.

Touching on the benefits, G.S. Chatterjee, COO and Country Manager, YORK, explains: “We offer customers increased tyre life and hub life, decreased maintenance period with different mileage and warranty ranges. The fleet operator will benefit anything in the range of 25-30 per cent in the life of a tyre as against changing hub grease after 1 lakh km, YPS ensures hub grease to last upto 3 lakh km.”

Proven technology

The reason why YORK is able to offer the guarantees is because with YPS the bearings will be preloaded in its position (to the hub) and there will be no wobbling at the tyres. This technology, claims Chatterjee, will be available for vehicles in the range of 12 tonne (Intermediate Commercial Vehicles).

The company also displayed the 16-tonne suspension made up of sheet metal and not steel casting with self-lubricating bush which one need not change or grease for a longer duration. “In a normal suspension one has to do greasing after 50,000 km. Here the customer need not worry till one lakh km,” claims Chatterjee.

No doubt YORK India has been able to grow solely with its technology and product quality. “We are doing phenomenally well and have grown by leaps and bounds since inception in 2008 in India. We estimate to end FY16 with a turnover of Rs. 240 crores. This will be testimony to 85-90 per cent of year-on-year growth we have been clocking for the last two years,” beams Sharman.

“In the last eight years we have catapulted to acquiring 30 per cent of market share in axles and 20-22 per cent in suspensions,” adds Chatterjee. Today, YORK has 200 touch-points in the country and certified service and sales engineers to operate axles and suspension at authorized centers. This number is sure to go up as demand from sectors like coal mining, truck and car carrier, road construction and infrastructure starts mounting. “At the moment very few economies in the world are doing well, and fortunately we see India as one of the leading growth partners with a lot of policy  changes effected,” concludes Sharman.
