BorgWarner is displaying a broad range of fuel-efficient technologies at this year’s Auto Expo Components Show in Hall 18FF, Booth 26 in Pragati Maidan. The portfolio includes state-of-the-art exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems such as valves and coolers as well as hybrid tube EGR coolers featuring BorgWarner’s latest EGR valves for commercial vehicles. In addition, advanced turbocharging technologies, engine timing systems such as the gasoline timing system for Hyundai’s Kappa I4, a variable cam timing (VCT) technology, diesel cold-start technology and thermal management solutions is also exhibited.

First held in 1986, the biennial Auto Expo has established itself as Asia’s largest automotive show. With its focus on auto components and the supplier industry, the Components show attracted more than 70,000 visitors in 2014. “We are proud to participate in this important event showcasing our broad portfolio of highly engineered technologies, which make us one of the leading suppliers of the automotive industry,” says Mr. James R. Verrier, President and Chief Executive Officer, BorgWarner.

“Our cutting-edge solutions enable Indian automakers to comply with increasingly stringent emission standards now and in the future. We are therefore pleased to provide OEMs all over Asia with our products, which are designed to improve fuel economy and deliver high performance” he says.

BorgWarner’s state-of-the-art EGR modules are designed to reduce combustion temperatures and decrease nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions by recirculating and cooling exhaust gases. The modules combine an EGR cooler, an EGR valve and a bypass valve in one compact package and allow numerous powertrain strategies including lowpressure and high-pressure EGR systems.  Combining a smaller high-pressure turbocharger and a larger low-pressure turbocharger, BorgWarner’s regulated two-stage (R2S®) turbocharging technology for modern diesel engines is built to deliver powerful yet efficient performance. This solution provides a quick rise in boost pressure at low engine speeds by directing the entire exhaust gas flow to the smaller turbocharger. At higher engine speeds, the wastegate valve opens and the exhaust gas is redirected to the larger turbocharger. By optimizing the full engine speed range, BorgWarner’s R2S technology helps to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions while enhancing performance.

The engine timing system for Hyundai Kappa I4 is a precise, durable, quiet, lightweight and compact technology enabling the OEM to perfectly tune the engine for improved fuel economy and reduced emissions. This system features an advanced chain with high-quality finishing for enhanced efficiency performance and durability to reduce friction while delivering lower noise performance. In addition, BorgWarner’s tailor-made variable cam timing technology helps to improve engine efficiency while reducing mass, package size and complexity to provide the best possible solution for each application.

A selection of fans and fan drives such as the 842B Visctronic fan drive is also on display. BorgWarner’s Visctronic fan drives respond directly to the engine’s cooling needs at all times by communicating with the engine’s electronic control unit via specially calibrated software. When no cooling is needed, the technology reduces power consumption by disengaging and rotating at minimum speed. When more cooling is required, the fan drive re-engages to provide efficient air cooling. In addition to coolant pumps, BorgWarner presents efficient fans featuring a new design and new materials.
