Automotive Engineering Show attracts over 100 exhibitors

Automotive Engineering Show, India’s only trade fair focused on technologies for automotive manufacturing, opened its doors in Chennai, reckoned the country’s largest auto hub, on July 7. Spread across Halls 2 & 3 of the Chennai Trade Centre, the three-day trade fair brought together over a 100 leading technology companies showcasing their range of automotive automation and engineering solutions designed for the Indian industry. Auto professionals witnessed a broad demonstration of the latest technologies by specialists from Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi Electric, FARO, Mahr, SICK India, Olympus, Panasonic, Bharat Fritz Werner, etc.

Eminent auto industry leaders were present at the opening ceremony of the business gathering for auto sector professionals in the city. Addressing the gathering, Mr. P. Thangamani, Tamil Nadu Minister of Industries, said: “I am very happy to inaugurate this important industry exhibition. Under the able and visionary leadership of our Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu has become a front-runner among Indian States in terms of industrial development. Chennai, in particular, has not only become the leader in automobile manufacturing in India but is also the largest exporter of automobiles. I would like to add that industry professionals must take full advantage of the show for their benefit.”

The Minister also announced that the Global Investors Meet-2015 will be held at the Chennai Trade Centre in September, where the State Government is targeting to attract over Rs. 1 lakh-crore investment.

Also present at the inaugural function were industry leaders such as Mr. M. Velmurugan, Executive Vice Chairman, Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance & Export Promotion Bureau, Mr. T.K. Balaji, Managing Director, Lucas TVS Ltd., Mr. M.V. Ramachandran, Project Head, GARC, a unit of the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP), Mr. N. Gopinath, President, Powder Metallurgy Association of India (PMAI), Mr. Ravi Raghavan, CEO, BFW, and Mr. Vijay A. Pankhawala, General Manager, Business Development and Corporate Planning Department, Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
