Widney’s tryst with India came with JCB products, and five years ago, the company’s subsidiary, Widney India, set up a manufacturing facility at Faridabad to cater to the growing demand for window assemblies from JCB India.

“In Europe, we make sun blinds not just for CE OEMs but also for bus applications, and our expertise in that regard is immense. India does have a huge market space for bus-related accessories, and so we see a huge opportunity for our sun blinds in the bus market in India”, said Mr. Roger Cox, Vice-President – Sales, Widney India.

He added that these sun blinds are specifically-designed for domestic bus needs, and are manufactured locally with the company’s international expertise. “Hence, our products are reliable and cost-effective”.

Widney India is targeting at all bus OEMs and body builders in the country. “Response here at the Busworld expo was really good. Visitors and potential customers showed great interest and threw positive feedbacks”, observed Mr. Sanchit Jaggi, Director – Operations (India).

The company has had meetings with Daimler India and Volvo Buses before the expo, and a few other OEMs have even asked for samples of their product so as to kick-start sales in the domestic market.
