Lamilux takes unique approach with live demo to highlight ease of product usage

Visitors at the Lamilux booth got to witness the live demo on a frame that resembled a roof of the bus. This (Live Demonstration of Application) has happened for the first time in Bus World history. The whole purpose was to showcase the ease of bonding a single frame roof without any hassle.

“We wanted to practically showcase the advantages, benefits and ease of production of a bus roof using our GRP which increases the productivity of manufacturing and simplifies the application process,” said Mr. Rohan Bellikatti, Regional Technical Sales Manager, South India & Sri Lanka, Lamilux India Pvt. Ltd.

Working in the Indian bus industry for almost three years, Lamilux India has been successful in convincing the manufacturers of the role of its new technology that can help them reduce fuel consumption as well as make the vehicle lighter.

With the manufacturers moving towards BS-VI by 2020 and some already showcasing battery-operated vehicles at the show, Lamilux products will help them save a lot of weight.

Elaborating on the concept, Mr. Oliver Liebsch, Managing Director, Lamilux India Pvt. Ltd., said: “A customer using one millimeter of conventional GI sheet gets a density of around 7.8 kilo per square meter, while our product has the density of 1.6 kilo per square meter which translates into a weight saving of around 60 per cent.”

“A normal bus would require a 30 square meters roof which if used in GI would be around 230-285 kg per square meter depending on the thickness. However, with our product as a roof the weight will be around 95 kg. This means weight saving of around 60 per cent”. he added.

One of the largest producers of glass fibre reinforced plastic sheets in the world, Mr. Liebsch added: “We have managed to impress the likes of top OEM manufacturers in India, and are growing every year. Our success relies on our composite products that are much better than steel, don’t corrode and are easy to maintain.”

“On back of our strong material & efficient technical/sales team we are expecting to grow substantially as compared to the previous year both in the cold chain and bus segments in India. To cater to growing demand, we are building a new line at our existing facility in Germany to further expand our annual capacity, which will be ready by the end of the year.” he added.
