‘Hamare Bus Ki Baat Hai’ program to sensitise parents, school bus staff and drivers on school bus safety 

Furthering initiatives to promote safe school bus travel, Tata Motors held ‘Hamare Bus Ki Baat Hai’, recently at Springfield School, Bangalore, a school bus safety program, for school bus staff and drivers, aimed at educating them on safety and how it is to practiced, to prevent and minimise accidents during travel. Besides the program also aims at sensitizing participants about the softer aspects of their respective jobs, like dealing with children and parents while on the job. 70 of Springfield’s School bus staff were trained at its campus in Ramanagara, Karnataka.

Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Business Head, Commercial Vehicle, Passenger, Tata Motors Ltd. said, “Each day, at countless bus stops across the country, parents entrust schools with what’s most precious to them – their children! Undoubtedly, this is a huge responsibility that places enormous pressure on schools and various people associated in transporting their children to and from school. Through this campaign, Tata Motors is partnering with parents, schools and transport authorities to help manage this responsibility. We have trained over 17,000 school bus staff so far”

The School Principal, said, safety is of paramount importance to every school and through these initiatives, we are happy to partner with Tata Motors in imparting a very important element of safety for our children, in School Bus travel. Our school participated in the ‘Hamare Bus Ki Baat Hai’ campaign, which has been very well received by our school bus staff. We would like to thank Tata Motors for playing such an active role in our school.” 

In 2014 alone, Tata Motors trained over 15,000 school bus staff on school bus safety across 41 cities, 295 schools, through 302 sessions, under the ‘Hamare Bus Ki Baat Hai’ school bus safety program. The program began in 2013 with interactive sessions designed with the objective of sensitizing school bus staff, on the safety of children during school bus travel. 

Additionally, Tata Motors has in the past, also carried out activities for children, to make them aware about the significance of safe school bus travel, educating them to become experts in self-protection in case of any unforeseen circumstances. Keeping these initiatives in mind, Tata Motors introduced the ‘Dream it to Win it’ and the ‘Safety Hamare Bus Mein’ campaign. 

‘Dream it to Win it’

Dream it to Win it’, a unique drawing and collage making competition for school children, around school bus safety. Tata Motors organized the ‘Dream it to win it’ program across 21 cities with participation of over 3.9 lakh students from over 1900 schools across the country.

‘Safety Hamaare Bus Mein’

This programme is designed to educate school children on using safety features in buses, tips on safe travel and other softer aspects of dealing with school bus staff. The training includes aspects like mock fire drill in schools, a virtual experience film showing safe travel, sessions with select students on safety and a safety quiz in school. It involves safety drills like entry and exit, emergency evacuation and effective handling of safety provisions in a bus. This campaign is set to kick-off shortly.
