7th edition of Busworld India inaugurated

The 7th edition of Busworld India opened on November 10, 2016 at the BIEC, Bengaluru to a grand inauguration in the presence of key stakeholders from the Indian bus and coach sector.

Partnered by ASRTU and IRU, Busworld India 2016 witnessed participation from industry giants like Volvo Buses, Daimler, MG Automotive and SML Isuzu among others.

Themed ‘Bus and Coach – A Smart Transportation System for India’, Busworld Academy conducted a series of seminars conducted with topics ranging from challenges faced by Indian bus industry, best practices followed by international bus industries, how technology can improve the services among others.

Mr. Didier Ramoudt, President – Busworld International said, “India has as a huge requirement for replacement of buses and hence it is imperative for creating space for sustainable transport.”

Mr. Oleg Kamberski, Head – Passenger Transport, IRU said, “Countries still do not make bus and coaches their top priority. Policy makers must look at it urgently.”

Mr. Rajender Kumar Kataria, MD – KSRTC and VP – ASRTU said, “The image of public transport needs a drastic change. We have been failing to bring about public transport for all.”

In a country where 1.5 lakh buses are run by STUs, a need was felt for giving the public their space back by helping them wean to public transport.
