Volvo Buses India has delivered 10 BS-IV compliant 12 m 9400 range coaches to the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC). The buses were inducted in the presence of Mr. Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vijay Nehra, MD, GSRTC, stated: “Close on the heels of the recent supreme court judgement mandating compulsory implementation of BS-IV norms, GSRTC has become the first STU to induct BS-IV compliant Volvo coaches in India.”

The locally manufactured BS-IV compliant Volvo D8C engine is testimony to the fact that Volvo Buses has been proactive in its commitment towards meeting BS-IV norms. The powerhouse manufactured delivers a peak power of 330 hp to ensure a high degree of performance and fuel-efficiency.
The driveline and powertrain in the Volvo 9400 coach are designed to last for the lifecycle of the bus, which is typically for 10 lakh kms. With long service intervals, these key aggregates can contribute significantly to lowering of running costs. Moreover, the NVH levels are significantly reduced, which lead to better travel comfort for passengers and lowers driver fatigue, which is essential from a safety standpoint.
Safety, one of the core values at Volvo Buses, has always been at the forefront of its products which come equipped with segment-first active safety features including ABS, Electronic Braking System (EBS), Disc Brakes and Hill-start aid.
Added to this, Bus Body Code features such as emergency exit door, breakable emergency exit windows with T-punch glass breakers, emergency service door opening switches, fire suppression system in engine hatch & luggage areas, smoke detection system in the saloon and luggage areas, and fire extinguishers, enhance the safety of passengers in Volvo coaches.
