Volvo CE keen to aid Indian construction equipment market growth

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) expressed optimism about India’s construction equipment market both for the medium and long term, and reiterated its commitment to help grow the Indian market through ecosystem collaboration.

At the expo, Volvo CE showcased its fuel-efficient machines ranging from hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders and a range of road machinery items like soil compactor, asphalt compactor, motor grader, pneumatic tyre roller and paver finisher, apart from new models of excavators – EC220DL and EC300DL.

Mr. Vincent Tan, President, Volvo Construction Equipment, Region Asia, said: “India remains one of the high potential markets for Volvo-pic-2construction equipment in the medium to long term in the Asia region, backed by strong spending forecast in construction and infrastructure projects. Volvo CE in India is not just providing world-leading technology in construction equipment, but is also a partner to enable the ecosystem’s competence and readiness in this sector.”

Volvo-pic-3Mr. A.M. Muralidharan, President, Volvo Construction Equipment, India, observed: “At Volvo CE we understand the varied needs of our customers and what they go through every day and hence give them the benefit of a continuous and seamless service experience to keep their business both productive and profitable. We also recognize their need for optimum performance and efficiency from the machines at a reasonable price.”

Volvo-EXC-EC250DVolvo CE offers a wide range of aftermarket products and services called customer solutions that enhance the customer’s experience and satisfaction. For example, attachments have enabled customers to gain more value from application-specific requirements. It is thus an area where Volvo CE has leveraged to serve new segments of the market and increase market share.

REMAN (remanufactured components) offers customers refurbished machines in the market, to help them operate satisfactorily at less intensive workloads. Volvo CE has more than doubled its REMAN business since launch in 2011.

Volvo CE introduced the concept of advanced telematics in India by launching CareTrack in 2010. Today, almost every Volvo CE excavator, loader, grader and hauler sold since 2010 is telematics enabled, and customers from Volvo CE see high value in this solution. More than one-third of Volvo CE’s fleet in India has CareTrack.

Volvo-pic-4In addition to offering customers a Total Solutions experience, the company has taken several initiatives to enable ecosystem building in the areas of skills development and knowledge sharing. Early this year, Volvo partnered with CSIR-CRRI to create India’s first forum to modernize road construction technology and speed execution of road projects. This initiative aims to train almost two million machine operators and engineers in the next five years, and Volvo CE will be working with industry bodies like IRC, NHAI, BIS and NRRDA to achieve this goal.

Further, Volvo CE’s Customer Centre at Hoskote, launched in 2008, has clocked about 75,000 man-hours in training annually, and showcased the Volvo CE experience to over 1,000 customers, in addition to training over 10,000 operators till date.
