TISS Security Systems of the UK, the world’s leading truck security and safety specialists, is looking to enter the Indian market in a big way. TISS is primarily known for its market leading ‘TankSafe’ range of fuel security and safety devices, which covers the award-winning ‘Impregnable’ device tipped to be the only one to completely prevent ‘skimming’ of fuel, third party fuel theft, and overfilling and diesel spills for a range vehicles, including trucks, buses, coaches and LCVs.

Boasting a team with over 30 years experience in the haulage industry, TISS has a deep understanding of all the major security problems faced by CV operators. This has enabled it to sell its security solutions to over 1,000 companies worldwide.

A multinational company with a strong distribution network covering all areas of the globe, TISS also supplies its TankSafe range to four leading truck manufacturers – Iveco, Volvo, MAN and Mercedes. The company has good expertise in the field with over 60 different models in its product range compatible with any vehicle starting from a 3½ ton pick-up truck.

Good response

Following the global acceptance of its products, the company has turned its attention to India and is primarily looking to take the aftermarket route in the country. Talking exclusively to MOTORINDIA, Mr. Matthew Rose, Marketing Director, TISS Security Systems says: “We expect a very big market in India and have had very good response here at ACMA Automechanika. We are scouting for local partners who know the market better and can distribute and establish our products well. We believe we can succeed in capturing a large share of the market very quickly.”

He adds: “In India, the fuel loss for fleet operators is in the range of 5 per cent to nearly 20 per cent each day, which translates to a considerable amount of money. This is a huge loss for private operators and government corporations alike, especially when the industry is talking about improvement in fuel efficiency. Fleets have tried different ways like using latches and controlling the opening of fuel tanks using special keys, but they have not been successful. This is where TISS products can make a difference”.

TISS is confident that its solution will prove successful in India despite the market being considered a great challenge when it comes to safety and security issues. It has set itself an ambitious target of establishing a distribution network across the country by the end of 2015 and commencing sales to fleet customers during the year.

“Our products have a non-return valve which makes it impossible for even a drop of fuel to be stolen. It is a simple and unique solution and we are sure it is something the fleets would want to fit. We are still working on the pricing for India, but going from our experience in markets like Africa, the payback period will be as fast as five weeks. By the end of 2015, we would like to be selling to the fleets in India and have a distributor network covering the whole of the country”, he concludes.
