Tata Motors Ltd., the country’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, is targeting a major share in the commercial vehicle market of southern India, more particularly in Tamil Nadu. This is much evident in the number of initiatives taken by the company for expanding its dealership in the State, especially in the Salem region known as a trucking nerve-centre. The company has now appointed LRN Motors as its new dealer for commercial vehicles, sales, service and spares in Salem. The recently-held inaugural function which was largely attended by fleet and bus operators literally marked a Tata wave sweeping the region.

Delivering his keynote address after inaugurating the LRN Motors’ hi-tech dealership, Mr. R. Ramakrishnan, Senior Vice-President, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors Ltd., said the company policy has always been to “grow together”, and hence its relationship with the dealer community is based on a clear understanding of their full requirements. Further, realising that no company can survive without full customer backing, Tata Motors has given top priority to maintenance of close relations with customers, providing them the best of service. 

Referring to the importance of Salem, Mr. Ramki, who is well known among industry circles, said the city has proved one of the major hubs for transport business in the country well supported by both professional and ethical businessmen. With the appointment of LRN Motors, customers are assured of quality service, prompt delivery, etc.

Mr. Ramki also handed over the keys of company’s various vehicle models to the customers on the occasion.

In his special address, Mr. S. Sundaresen, Chairman & Managing Director, LRN Group, observed that since there is increasing demand for Tata Motors commercial vehicles in the region, LRN Motors has opted for the dealership. In order to provide excellent service to the customers, adequate training has been given to the sales and service personnel as well as making quality spares available at all important points. The dealership covering 22,500 sq. ft. is fully equipped with all the advanced garage facilities to guarantee quick customer service.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Mr. S.S. Subbu, Managing Director, LRN Motors Pvt. Ltd., said it was in 1958 that his grandfather, the late S. Shanmugam, started the group business with LRN Bus Service Private Ltd. Later on, under the able leadership of his father, Mr. S. Sundaresen, the group ventured into automobile dealership and set up LRN Hero, LRN Hyundai, LRN Fuels and now LRN Motors for Tata commercial vehicles. Mr. Sundaresen, the guiding force behind the LRN Group, is fully supported by his two sons, Mr. Subbu and Mr. S.S. Shiva.
