Sri Manikandan Tyres to set up Michelin retreading unit at Sankari

Sankari, a historic town located around 35 km south-west of Salem, is situated on the Salem-Coimbatore National Highway-NH47. The district is famous for trucks and allied business. Sri Manikandan Tyres is one such company which deals exclusively in Michelin and Apollo tyres in Sankari.

In an exclusive interview to MOTORINDIA, Mr. Ravi alias K.K. Natesan, Partner, Sri Manikandan Tyres, discussed in brief the truck business which is an predominant industry in Sankari and nearby areas and the challenges it faces due to the increase in the number of players in it. The company is associated with Michelin Tyres since 2004.

He said: “In order to service the needs of its valued clients for both radial truck tyres and tyre related services, Michelin opened its second MTSC centre, in Sankari, in Tamil Nadu in 2010. We are pleased and honoured to be associated with Michelin Tyres as their partner in MTSC. Partnership with Michelin, an international leader in tyre technology, makes it possible for us to cater to the huge market of radial tyres in this district. It also enables us to provide the best possible tyre related services using state-of-the-art machinery and well trained staff.”

MTSC is a one-stop-shop for bias, radial tyre and related services for trucks. Apart from the application based tyre recommendation and sales, MTSC’s gamut of services include wheel alignment, wheel balancing, professional tyre repair service, greasing, etc.

“With Michelin’s radial tyres, we are able to save five litres of diesel in each truck every day which I feel is a huge contribution to the society and to the nation in general. Customers benefit greatly due to fuel savings. We sell almost 550 Michelin tyres a month. We are developing a state-of-the-art Michelin re-treading unit here, first of its kind in the retail market in Tamil Nadu. We have invested almost Rs. 75 lakhs in this new initiative. We also have plans to open wheel alignment centres in various locations in Tamil Nadu”, added Mr. Natesan.
