Devendra Engine Craft components in demand

Devendra Engine Craft Pvt. Ltd. of Chennai, set up in 2007 mainly for trading in auto components, mainly for exports of engine components and fuel injection parts (FIPs). The company growth is fast enough for it to now become a regular supplier of components for major OEMs like Simpsons and TAFE and their group companies for their engine manufacturing.

Founded by Mr. S. Gajraj, Managing Director, Devendra Engine Craft, the company now produces 30,000 cylinder liners per month, of which nearly 50 per cent is procured by OEMs and the balance is sold in the domestic market and exported.

Discussing the growth and development of the company in an interview to R. Natarajan of MOTORINDIA, Mr. Gajraj said the initial tough phase was overcome with determination and devotion to work to make it a successful venture. “I have been associated with cylinder liners since 1992. We started Devendra Engine Craft in 2007 to cater mainly to the auto components trade. We specialise in manufacture of dry cylinder liners and in addition, also capable of producing wet liners. At our foundry employing 60 persons in Pondicherry, we make centrifugal castings as the input for manufacturing liners. Our machine shop is located in the SIDCO Industrial Estate in Thirumazhisai near Chennai where we do value-added services including machining, final packaging and distribution.”

Devendra-pic-1He further disclosed that with the growing demand from the commercial vehicle industry, the company has been receiving a lot of enquiries from major OEMs interested in procuring its products. It also produces components for institutional buyers both in the domestic and international markets. Devendra Engine Craft has now forayed into the global market and expanded its product range to cover fuel injection service parts.

Devendra Engine Craft registered an overall turnover of Rs. 3.25 crores in 2013-14 and plans are afoot to take it up to Rs. 5 crores in the current financial year.
